Brocade Ribbon corset

England
c.1906-1908 ribbon corset made from cotton twill tapes with a pink brocade texture. Ribbon corsets were a popular alternative for slender women who did not need the support of a full corset. While ribbon corsets made from silk were worn in the boudoir, ones made from sturdy cotton twill tapes were often used for sporting activities.
This ribbon corset originally had two stocking suspenders at the front but were cut off by the original owner which suggests that this one may have been used for sports. It has a straight busk which was fashionable during the Edwardian era and is boned with whalebone. The corset laces up the back with brass eyelets.
Measurements: Waist 20", Busk length 10 1/4".
