c.1902-1905. A white sateen nursing S- Bend corset. This corset has bust flaps which open and close with snaps
to allow for breastfeeding. Although this was a nursing corset, it is cut in the fashionable S-bend shape and would
have been worn by a new mother to help get back her pre-pregnancy shape.
S bend corsets relied on a long straight busk and diagonal seaming to mold the figure into an "S" shape by thrusting
the bust forwards and pushing the hips backwards. This model is also cut slightly fuller in the bust and
hips to allow for swollen breasts from breastfeeding and for weight gain from pregnancy. From the collection of L. Hidic
