J.B. Side Spring model 150A
England

c.1905-1907. A light drab coutil S-bend style corset by the J.B. Corset Company (Manchester). S bend corsets relied on a long
straight busk and diagonal seaming to mold the figure into an "S" shape by thrusting the
bust forwards and pushing the hips backwards. The corset has

triangular bust gussets and wide hips gores to allow for this
shifting of the figure.
A wide back of scalloped lace with a narrow band of white grosgrain ribbon inserted through
it, trims the top of the corset. White flossing decorates and reinforces the bone casings.
The corset is boned with watchspring and is stamped as being "Rust Proof". Rustproof steels,
just meant that they were wrapped in thick paper.
This corset is not lined but has contrasting white twill bone casings on the inside along with
a white cotton staytape with "Rust Proof J. B. Side Spring 150A" stamped on the inside.
Measurements: Bust 31", Waist 23", Hips 34", Busk length 11 1/2".
